CNC Machine Fire Protection
CNC machines present a high fire risk due to the combination of electrical components, hot surfaces, cutting fluids, and metal chips within enclosed work areas. Orbis Fire Suppression provides pre-engineered fire suppression systems designed to detect and suppress fires directly inside CNC machine enclosures before they escalate.
CNC Machines are prone to sparks which may catalyze into complete destruction

Why Protect Your CNC Machine?
CNC machines present an inherent fire risk due to the combination of moving mechanical components, electrical systems, and flammable materials such as oil-based coolants. Common causes of CNC machine fires include overheating, friction, and sparks generated during normal operation. Even at low speeds and temperatures, sparks can occur, and when combined with low flash-point coolants, a single ignition can quickly develop into a self-sustaining fire.
In addition, vapors from oil-based coolants can accumulate within the machine enclosure, further increasing the likelihood and intensity of a fire event if ignition occurs.
Orbis® Fire Suppression has developed pre-engineered fire suppression systems specifically designed to detect and suppress CNC machine fires at their point of origin. Using heat-sensing detection tubing, Orbis systems continuously monitor high-risk areas inside the machine. When excessive heat or flame is detected, the system automatically discharges a pressurized extinguishing agent directly onto the source of the fire, suppressing it within seconds.
Orbis® automatic fire suppression systems operate independently of external power, electricity, or water, ensuring reliable protection even during power loss or unattended operation.
By delivering fast, localized suppression inside the CNC enclosure, Orbis systems help protect personnel, minimize equipment damage, and reduce costly downtime, providing dependable fire protection where it matters most.

No water damage. No post-discharge cleanup.
System Options for CNC Machines

Direct Low Pressure Clean Agent Release System (DLP)
Orbis Fire’s DLP fire suppression systems activate in seconds, using a heat-sensitive tube to release clean agent directly at the ignition point. Stainless steel, DOT & CE approved for global safety.

Indirect Low Pressure Clean Agent Release System (ILP)
Orbis Fire’s ILP fire suppression systems separate detection from discharge, using sensors or control panels to trigger clean agent release through nozzles. Stainless steel, DOT & CE approved for reliable protection worldwide.
Why Orbis® for CNC Machines
- Rapid, Automatic Fire Suppression
Orbis systems are engineered to detect fire conditions inside CNC machine enclosures and respond instantly—suppressing flames at the source before they can spread, escalate, or damage critical components
- Designed for Oil-Based Coolants & Machining Risks
CNC environments involve flammable coolants, hot chips, and friction-generated sparks. Orbis systems are purpose-built to address these risks directly inside the machine enclosure where ignition typically occurs.
- Pre-Engineered and Easy to Install
No complex engineering or machine redesign required. Orbis systems come pre-assembled and are designed to integrate seamlessly into CNC enclosures, minimizing installation time and production disruption.
- Self-Contained, No Power Required
All detection and actuation functions are fully mechanical. Orbis systems operate independently of external power, electrical connections, or water supply—ensuring reliable operation even during outages.
- Cost-Effective Equipment Protection
Localized, enclosure-level suppression reduces damage scope, limits downtime, and avoids the high costs associated with room-level or water-based suppression systems.
- Reliable and Proven Technology
Orbis fire suppression technology is field-proven in industrial environments, providing dependable protection for high-value CNC equipment operating under continuous or unattended conditions.
- Minimal Maintenance
With few moving parts and no reliance on electrical components, Orbis systems require minimal maintenance—lowering long-term ownership and service costs.
- Compact, Machine-Friendly Design
Small footprint systems fit easily within CNC enclosures without interfering with machine operation, tooling, or maintenance access.
